Problem & context
Independent streetwear labels compete on culture, not catalogue size. VOID X needed a storefront that read like a lookbook while still behaving like a fast, conversion-focused shop. The starting point was a generic template where product imagery was cropped small, drops were buried under category menus, and the checkout ran across four separate screens.
The brief was to rebuild the shopping experience around limited drops: make each release feel like an event, keep browsing effortless on mobile, and remove the friction that made shoppers abandon the cart.
Process & key decisions
I mapped the existing purchase journey, ran a heuristic review against five comparable streetwear stores, and interviewed shoppers about how they decide on a drop. Three problems repeated: unclear stock status, weak size guidance, and no sense of urgency around releases.
The redesign put a full-bleed drop hero at the top of the home page, replaced the mega-menu with a sticky filter rail, and merged checkout into a single scrollable page with an always-visible order summary. A dark, high-contrast type system and a reusable component library kept the visual language consistent across product, collection and cart screens.
Outcome
- Checkout reduced from four steps to one scrollable page.
- Product discovery reorganised around drops instead of static categories.
- A reusable component library covering 30+ UI elements for future releases.
