Problem & context
BLASTOYS sells toys to UK parents who usually shop with a specific child and occasion in mind, not a product category. The existing store sorted everything by brand, so a parent looking for a gift for a five-year-old had to guess their way through the catalogue.
The goal was to reorganise the shop around the way parents actually search — by age, occasion and budget — while keeping the playful brand personality intact.
Process & key decisions
I ran a card-sorting exercise with parents to rebuild the information architecture, then prototyped a landing experience that leads with age bands and gift-finder entry points instead of brand tiles.
Product cards were redesigned to surface age suitability, price and stock at a glance. A bright, high-contrast palette and rounded type kept the brand approachable, and every component was specified for mobile first since most sessions come from phones.
Outcome
- Navigation rebuilt around age, occasion and budget.
- Gift-finder flow added as a primary path from the homepage.
- Mobile-first product cards showing age suitability and stock upfront.
