Problem & context
Rescue organisations lose adopters to friction. Second Chance had a growing roster of dogs but an adoption journey that buried each animal's story, required a long PDF application, and gave no feedback after submission.
Process & key decisions
The redesign leads with the dogs: large photography, plain-language temperament notes, and filters for size, age and household fit so a family can find a realistic match quickly.
The PDF application became a short multi-step web form with progress feedback and a clear confirmation state, and donation and foster paths were given equal prominence for visitors who cannot adopt.
Outcome
- Adoption application moved from PDF to a short guided web form.
- Match filters for size, age and household compatibility.
- Equal-weight donate and foster paths for non-adopters.
